The Consortium of Human and Social Sciences for International and Comparative Research (ICR) at the University of Tsukuba seeks to enhance Japan’s role in advancing academic research in the humanities and social sciences, addressing issues of global significance, and overcoming the clash of civilizations.
To achieve these goals, the ICR’s objectives are to:
-
Develop transnational comparative research methods based on thinking beyond state-centered frameworks.
-
Solve global problems by exploring ways for countries and peoples to co-exist and cooperate while retaining their individual identities.
-
Establish Japan as a leading academic innovator and disseminator of knowledge that contributes to global progress through research in the humanities and social sciences.
