The 25th ICR Seminar was held on April 1, 2016 at University of Tsukuba.
The theme of this seminar was “Fukushima and the Internet: Characterizing the Catastrophe from an International Point of View. We welcomed associate professor Thomas Brisson at the Paris 8 University as a guest speaker. He picked up independent governmental agency called ASN which bears nuclear safety regulation and protective measure in France as an example and discussed the problems that occurred when ANS distributed information about Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster on the internet. Especially, the main discussion were the influence of international information distribution and accountability to citizens on criteria of making nuclear safety regulation models and balance between scientific knowledge and administration management. There were also opinions from attendants such as possibility for propaganda to lie between when making criteria and concern about the influence of profits when private companies are involved.
